WHAT US YOUNOW APP?
An app or website called YouNow – Broadcast Live offers the capability of live broadcasting. Users of this portal can broadcast their videos live. Therefore, we can conclude that it is extremely similar to Livestream | Broadcast & Watch HD Live Streaming Video Events or another live streaming platform. We can go to Younow to watch live videos or to go live ourselves.
HOW DOES YOUNOW WORK?
Going live is a simple process. After signing up, all that’s required is a quick click on “Go live.” If, however, you’d like to view other videos Registration is optional. However, I believe that choosing the Sing Up, which requires one click, is preferable. Because it allows you to sign up using your Facebook and Google+ accounts.
You can share your live stream everywhere on the internet once you’ve begun it using the app or website to increase the number of viewers. However, YouNow will prevent you from broadcasting yourself if your age is under 13.
The videos’ viewers have an easy way to vote for or recommend them. Additionally, they can chat outside of the chat window. The viewers’ choice as to whether or not the broadcaster would continue his video, however, is an intriguing fact. The “Green Thumbs Up” button suggests that “The Broadcaster” is given an additional minute to finish his movie, while the “Red Thumbs” command the Broadcaster to stop! Each minute, the thumbs that have been provided are counted. If a video receives more Reed thumbs than Green thumbs, the broadcasters will only receive an additional minute. The platform for live video casting that YouNow offers is now actually quite participatory thanks to this capability.
WHAT DO PARENTS NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUNOW?
Sleepover Nightmare – Imagine a situation where two teenage females are having a live conversation at midnight while wearing skimpy pajamas, using foul language, and being dared to do or say certain things by hundreds of others. What possibly could go wrong? We provide YouNow. And while it’s a ton of fun, it’s also an unhealthy temptation for any adolescent Internet user.
Zero Privacy – There are a lot of issues with this software that need to be addressed. The girls we were viewing have no idea who is on the other end of the Internet connection, yet there are hundreds of strangers staring into the bedroom they are broadcasting from, seeing them respond to private inquiries from anonymous viewers.
There are no registration requirements or age checks of any kind for viewing the broadcasts. The “trending subjects” or #’s, such as #musicians, #girls, #bored, etc., are used to categorize broadcasts. Broadcasters can rise to different levels by receiving likes from viewers, gaining fans, and receiving promotion from viewers.
Given how much personal information may be gathered from the settings where the broadcasts are taking place, privacy considerations are quite important.
Some Blockage – The “social networking” category of OpenDNS essentially blocks YouNow (To filter content, you must explicitly check this category). There are no monitoring reports available for the activity on the app.
