WHAT IS SESSION APP?
Private messaging software called Session App is free and open-source, with a primary focus on user security and encrypted communication.
The platform does not ask users for any personal information when they create an account and is based on decentralized servers connected to a worldwide routing network.
In order to protect the user’s identity, Session Messenger uses strict metadata encryption and data minimization techniques.
This is a highly interesting platform for secure communications since the communication is carried out using the Signal Protocol in a decentralized network where the servers are unable to determine the message’s origin or destination or the IP of the users who initially sent the message.
SESSION APP BASICS
Available for mobile use on iOS and Android, Session Messenger is cost-free. Additionally, desktop versions for Mac, Linux, and Windows are available for download from the official web store or through application stores.
Once users have access to the platform in the manner of their choice, it is time to set up a private account. Users must generate a Session ID throughout this process, and by default, no email address or phone number are required to create a profile.
Users are welcomed with a Session ID that they can share with others so that they can be found in the application once they are logged in.
This data is accessible to the general public, and users can be found using their ONS names. You may also use the mobile app to quickly access content by scanning QR codes.
Users are also given the opportunity to design their recovery phrase after logging in. There is no “forgot my password” option in the Session platform, thus users must utilize these tokens to regain access to their accounts.
Starting a new discussion allows users to send encrypted messages, audio files, animated gifs, files, and images. In order to increase security, it is also possible to reveal vanishing messages.
Users have the ability to turn off Session’s visual cues that indicate whether the other person in the discussion is typing or has correctly read a message.
